Fun fingerprint tree art project for fall.
This fall craft is perfect for all ages.
Moms night out, girls night, date night, or a kids craft project, this fingerprint tree art project can be anything you want it to be.
This craft is fun for kids because they get to finger paint, but it is great for adults because it can be as complex and detailed as they want it to be.

The changing of the leaves this time of year always reminds me why I love fall so much. Gone are the days of scorching summer heat and we welcome the cooler crisp days with open arms. The quote I added to the printable is from Anne of Green Gables, a personal favorite classic book (find my classic book list here).
L.M. Montgomery sums up fall perfectly with such a simple quote, “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.”
Here is the beautiful fingerprint tree art:
Supplies
-Orange, Red, and Yellow Tempera Paint (This paint is easily washable and safe for children)
-Printed Tree (Just download and print for free)
-Paper plate (or a paint palette)
Directions:
- Print the tree printable (see above) in color on regular or cardstock paper*
- Shake the paint well. Then put generous amounts of each color on your plate or palette. I used orange, red, and yellow. My son wanted to add green and blue leaves to his so I added more paint for him too.
- Dip your finger in the paint then press onto the tree everywhere you want leaves to be. The tree can have as many or as few leaves as you want!
4. Dry the paper overnight.
5. Cut along the dotted line once the paint is dry. Now you have an 8×10 fingerprint tree ready to frame!
Helpful Tips
*Use the tempera paint I recommended, especially with little kids. My son smeared paint all over his clothes and it came right out in the wash.
*If you want a more “watercolor” look, print on regular printer paper. For more solid leaves print on cardstock.
*If you’re doing the craft with little kids, it can help to show them how to press their finger on the paper first.
I can’t wait to see how yours turns out!

This makes me so happy! We love crafts with our little ones, no matter the age. I love how you showed the finished product of your 2 YO – perfect representation of what toddler art ACTUALLY looks like, and so adorable.
