Romantic fall date ideas are my specialty.
Each year, as the air becomes crisp and the leaves change colors, memories of one fall in particular come to mind. The fall, I fell in love. On a September day, as I made my way to my college campus, I had no idea what—or who—waited for me. That was the day I met the man who would teach me what it meant to be loved. That was the day I met my husband.
There’s just something about fall dates that feel extra special, even years later. The fall makes us feel young again, just as we were on the day we met.
We always go on lots of dates in the fall as we reminisce about the sweet beginning of our relationship.
These are the best fall date ideas, according to the experts (us).
Romantic date ideas for your fall bucket list.
Visit a Pumpkin Patch
Fall is the perfect time to visit a pumpkin patch. Stroll hand in hand as you search for the perfect pumpkin to carve, then race through the corn maze together. Maybe getting lost in the maze isn’t so bad when it means you get to spend more quality time together. Hop on one of the hay rides and enjoy the scenic drive while you’re there, too.
Continue the date at home as you carve the pumpkin you picked out together. Have fun choosing what to carve and work on it until it’s just right.

Movie Marathon
Cuddle up on the couch as the evenings get darker and enjoy your favorite movie together. Pick the movie series that reminds you and your significant other most of fall for this fun date night. We love to watch all the Harry Potter movies this time of year. A scary movie is a fun way to spend the spooky season together, too!
Make the night even better with food and drinks that match the movie theme. It’s fun to plan the food together and spend time with one another preparing it before the movie.
We make butter beer and caramel apples when we watch Harry Potter. The caramel apples are easy, and we can customize them however we like them to be with different toppings.

Visit a Coffee Shop
Sitting in a coffee shop together, watching the leaves fall, is perfect for slow conversation and simply being together. There’s nothing that says fall more than a hot cup of coffee or hot chocolate on a cool morning. It feels as if the whole world slows down as you two sit, taking in the day. It’s as if, for a moment, nothing else matters but the person sitting in front of you. This is what my husband and I did for our very first date.

Apple Cider, Donuts, and Apple Picking
There’s nothing quite like fresh apple cider in the fall. A trip to an orchard to pick up some cider, paired with warm apple cider donuts, makes for the perfect autumn treat. Stroll through the rows of apple trees together, savoring the sweet flavors and the crisp air as you slow down to take it all in. This classic fall date idea is the perfect way to enjoy time together in the fresh air.
Go apple picking while you are at the orchard and bring home a basket of apples to enjoy together! Bonus points if you complete the date by making an apple pie together at home.

Hike
Falling leaves, fresh air, and bright sun. Is there a better combination for a hike?
Pull on your shoes and find a trail or a local park to explore together. Being in nature is good for the soul. Slow down and breathe in the fresh air as you take a hike together this fall season. Finding new places to explore and trails to go on is so much fun. Fall is the perfect season for hiking, it’s a great way to soak in the changing colors of the leaves as you spend quality time in nature together.

Farmer’s Market
The farmer’s market always has something fresh and exciting to offer, plus live music on weekends. We love wandering through the stalls, sampling everything together. Strolling from booth to booth, wondering what you might discover next, and discussing your finds makes for a wonderful fall date. Plus, you might just stumble upon something special to take home!
The fall is a great time to visit the farmer’s market because the vendors often sell items unique to autumn, like fall scented candles, local art, or wreaths made from fall leaves. This is a great place to make new memories together. You could even plan a scavenger hunt at the market to make this fun fall date idea even better.

Bonfire and S’mores
A bonfire under a starry sky as the temperature drops is the perfect recipe for a romantic fall date night right in your backyard. Cozy up and watch the stars while you listen to the fire crackle. Add some s’mores, and you’re all set for a relaxing evening together. I love this date because we can stay home and still create lasting memories every time.

Final Thoughts
There’s something magical about fall. The crisp air, cozy sweaters, and falling leaves give us the perfect opportunity to reconnect and slow down together again. Whether you’re sipping cider at the orchard, watching your favorite movie, or walking hand in hand on a hike, fall is a wonderful time to enjoy the little things together.
I hope this list of fall date ideas inspires you to create sweet memories, start new traditions, and make the most of this fall season with the one you love.
